Default Can You Eliminate Knock Sensors?

Can you bypass or tune out the knock sensors? I want to do away with the knock sensors because of so much vibration that the car puts out. I dont want the knock sensors to retard time because of all the vibration. Thanks George

Yes you can with HPTuners under engine>spark control> knock sensors.

Better be sure your tune is good.

Thanks, but what do you mean about the tune being good.

I mean if it is too lean or too much timing and that is why it's pulling spark and you defeat that safety feature, boom. busted piston.

make sure it is false knock, I mean.

Me too, but mine is a street car and I am willing to give up just a little to make sure she doesn't die. Race car you can go more ragged edge on timing and AFR but understand the risk.

My car is race only. I just install 3.5" Bullets and turndowns after the headers and car shakes very bad, and I don't want the knock sensors to pull timing. Old school motors didn't have knock sensors.

That's true but they also broke pistons if they weren't tuned right. Get it right and no worries.

The main thing is; don't spend thousands on the car and save $350 by skipping the wideband. Tune it with a wideband O2 sensor hooked into HPTuners and make sur the AFR is right and the timing is right and you'll be fine. The computer and fuel injection will let you get the tune better than you ever could old school.

good deal, make sure it delivers real close to what it commands and keep it around 12.5-13.0 AFR and you'll be set. Richer if on the sauce or if the car likes it according to ET's.

That knock detector is the best friend that you have under the hood. It will keep the motor from detonating and destroying itself. All of that noise from the exhaust does not even register on that sensor, it is lookng for a specific high frequency knock. Use them to make that motor work to it's best, and not destruct if you get the tune wrong.

+1. If your getting knock, when are you getting it? Low MAP or WOT. The only time I would desensitize them is when your running a solid roller. Other than that try changing up fuel. Might be a quick fix.

Thanks everyone, keep it coming, I'm learning more and more about this. Hope to be taken it to the tuner next week. Another ? I can't get rid of the PO200 code, will this retard timing. I've OHM out the wires to the injectors, put on the NOID lite, new injectors, put the injectors on their on fuse, put in different PCM and nothing will clear the code. Car runs like **** with this code. Any ideas.

Have you seen DTC P0606? If so Injector drivers within pcm. Try loosening and re tighten all engine grounds. Plus ensure all ur pcm pins are seated.

Haven't seen PO606. Just PO200. it want pinpoint which injector. I'm going to take the engine harness off and check all the wires and connections and might send off PCM to have the drivers check also. Thanks for the info.
