Hi,
you need to make some adjustments!!your max hp/tq is about 5250 rpm's.
However, you will probably shift at about 5750-5900 rpm's and receive max benefits from your car. To many rpm's equals catastrophic failure to your engine. Drive smart and enjoy your ride....have a blessed weekend......

Sounds like someone,
hasn't calibrated your txmsn WOT shift parameters correctly.
To have this problem means it isn't on a factory tune; you'll need to find who's altered the PCM and get it sorted properly.

Maybe someone has the shift points set too high but every once in a while I will see one that is doing this and the tune is ok but the trans flares or is lazy to complete the shift until several hundred rpm later.
If you do not have access to tuning software or someone to look at your calibration try scanning it first. With any decent scan tool, log the shift commands and make sure the trans is not getting weak or slipping before making the shift.

Do not manually shift your automatic or you will be buying a new one. It's as easy as not getting on it till the problem is fixed. Every stock AT car I have seen has hit the limiter on the 2-3 WOT shift. I usually adjust the rev limiter up a few hundred RPM's to fix this. All you need to do is get it tuned, but first check your fluid to make sure that it is serviced properly.

Funny how everyone assumes it's tune related in the first bit of this thread.
What I would do...
1) Read the tune. If you find someone who has tuning software, this is free. It only costs money to change/upload a tune in most cases. This will tell you if the tune has been altered and how.
2) Start saving money now. It's likely that the trans has seen some miles (maybe not as many easy ones as you may have thought) and the clutch packs and/or bands are worn. If the tune comes back looking stock or within reason, you're going to need the money you've been saving.
3) Start looking for trans shops in your area. If you drive this car as hard as it sounds like you do, then you're going to want to make friends with them now.
4) If by chance it is all in the tune, convince the person with the software from step 1 to retune your trans settings for $150~200. It's super easy to tune a trans - especially on a car that hasn't been heavily modified. Most of the stock tables work great.

But haven't you heard SS? If something is not right these days it HAS TO BE THE TUNE!
