Default tuning question

i went to a shop today about my ABS light being on and not working, they asked me if i did any work to it and i told them that the owner before me installed 3.73 gears and they think thats why my ABS isnt working that its outta sync, they told me that i need to get a tune, i been told it would be $460 with dyno time to have everything tune by HP tuners (the shop that told me that i need a tune is not the one doing the tuning) do u think this could be true about the ABS? is $460 a good price for the tune with dyno?

If I remember correctly even tuning can't turn off the ABS light, I think that's one where you just need to pull the bulb. I could be wrong though.

What are the specs on the cam?

i put a 3.73 in my ta and no abs light so far. i don't think a gear change will cause this problem. i would post this in the gears and axles section and see if you get better results.

Who the helll could diff gears cause it. It's not like there is a difference in front to rear wheel speed.

This has always perplexed me also, If IIRC on the F-bodies with the NW9 option (also know as the 4 channel system) you have 4 speed sensors, one for each wheel. One the ones without the NW9 option, are know as the 3 channel system, they have one for each of the front wheels and one mounted on the carrier, in the rear end. Unless whoever is doing the gear change, isn't reinstalling the ring on the carrier properly, I don't see why the light would come on. Unlike the trucks that have an output from the PCM, to supply the rear tire speed to the EBCM, which do need to know the gear ratio, the F-body is directly reading the axle speed, after the driveshaft speed, so the rear ratio shouldn't mater.

If you originally had 2.73 gears and the car has 3 channel ABS, and they changed the carrier to a 3 series for the 3.73s and did not use the reluctor wheel for the 3 series carrier, then it could cause the ABS error. 2 series carriers and 3 series carriers use different reluctors to properly position the reluctor under the sensor in the housing. I've seen shops just move the 2 series reluctor to the 3 series carrier and cause this problem.

Thanks, now that makes sense
This now makes me wonder, if like myself, they didn't know there was a differance, what else is the shop missing?
