Tuning differences between 98 and 99+ ls1's?
I Read this in an older thread about what tuning software is needed to perform PCM tuning-
"HP Tuners allows you to tune most 99+ LS1 style computers for the initial cost of the Standard($499) or Pro($649) versions."
Before anyone gets there panties in a bunch, i am not bashig HPT that just happeed to be the quote that i saw.
I own a 98 Z28 A4, am i screwed having a 98 or is 99+ just a typo. Whats the diff between 98 and 99+ cars. I know that tuning software questions can be a little heated, lol, but i really just want to see what other 98 ls1 guys are using.
Also do most folks pay for the real time software, i am only doing my own vehicles, 98 camaro A4 and 2003 tahoe 5.3L. So i was wondering if i really need the real time option?
Thank in advance for all the help!

Hp Tuners list of supported vehicles (your '98 is in there)
http://www.hptuners.com/products/vcmsuite_vehicles.php
RTT (Real Time Tuning) is NOT available on a '98. Honestly not a big deal. Didn't use it for the first 2 years as paying for additional credits got expensive in the beggining...List of specifics for custom operating systems using Hp Tuners below.

the only true real time tuning I know of is the road runner. you can get lucky and find a 98 road runner pcm or you can see if moates will tell you whats needed to convert one. right now he seems to only sell the 99-up ones.
you can use efilive C with the road runner. with efi live your not charged for the 97-98 ls1 so you still have two licenses for other vehicles for your purchase price
not trying to sway you to efi live just letting you know for real time tuning

Correct, Both EFILive and hp will support your vehicle.
We do not charge for 97-98 corvette and 98 camaros on our cables, so you can tune unlimited of then without using licenses.
As far as Real on the fly tuning with All tables being able to be changed while the vehicle is running would be the roadrunner option. It is a service where you would ship your ecm to Moates.net and he would install the added hardware into your stock pcm. It is a very good tool for learning how each table effect things and why..
