Idle Relearn M6 01 Z/28 (Help Please)
Hi guys,
So I had a re-tune PCM sent back from Nelson Performance because I recently got a new rear end installed with Richmond 3.73s (Speedo Recalibration). Got it tonight (Friday) in the mail so Nelson is closed.
When I first started my car it idled and hesitated horribly, it leveled out to normal idle rpm and was fine. But I could notice the car sounded quieter.
After idling for about 30 seconds I put it in reverse it started dying kinda. Gave it some gas, put it in first back into the garage, let it idle for 30 seconds, shut it off.
Two minutes later I re-started at 10%-20% throttle, it started fine, idled fine, after thirty seconds I reversed and went on a 5 mile drive.
The car seems to hesitate slightly in a 2nd gear pull from 3500-4500rpm at 75% throttle a few times. It just didn't feel right. When I come to complete stops it still didn't sound right (Quieter) and once or twice it did hesitate a lil. I did one WOT pull from 2nd to 3rd shifting at 5000 rpms and it felt fine, I think.
So long story short, I've heard of a "quick idle relearn" before but haven't performed one in over 5 years. And searching online I keep finding ones for an auto or the ones I find for a M6 the results were always different.
So does anyone know the proper way to do an "idle relearn" for a 2001 t56 Z/28 that had has a new PCM installed?
Is there a special "Crank Position idle relearn" process over the usual m6 relearn process one because I changed PCMs?
Thank you for any feedback/input.
I was trying to take the car out tomorrow night.

You shouldn't have any tuning issues with just swapping the gear...When I got a frost tune, it came with a note saying something along the line of taking time for the computer to re-learn. Maybe give it a couple of days?

I confirmed with the contact before hand it will be the same from before, but before was back in 2008 lol.
It feels like it is stock tune almost, like right when you change to long tube headers and down low under 3k rpms theres not a whole lot of power until you get on it past 4k.
Also shifting past 4k has it backfiring and popping slightly.
Bla.

I've just kept at it, with enough start cycles it just got
right eventually. Seen some people talk about driver's
door opening and stuff like that which sounds kooky
but I wouldn't put anything past GM. Just keep on
charging the battery, let it learn and die until it learns
to live, is all I've got.

I don't unfortunately, wish I did.
Yeah its driveable, I just hope they actually carried the old tune over because it still does not feel right yet if its going to get better that is.

This is what someone suggested to me in another thread for idle relearn.
Unplug the IAC, MAF, and TPS sensor plugs. Turn the key to the run position for 10 seconds, don't start it. Turn the key off, plug the sensors back in, and then start it.
