Default Will it run without getting another tune?

Here's my situation. I'm swapping tranny's going from a T-56 to a built 4L60E with 3600 stall. Will it shift correctly and be drive able after the swap or will i have to get it re-tuned? Any help is appreciated i am in the middle of the swap now thanks!

You must have a tune for the automatic to function.

Without the tune even if the trans could shift there might be issues with the car idling properly in gear.

Do they have to adjust line pressure and shift points?

So basically i shouldn't try and drive it after the install, or try to drive it to the tuner, get a car hauler?

I have never swapped one nor have I even looked at the transmission segment of a manuals tune but I would imagine the tuner will have to change a great number of things.

Ok thanks for your advice. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows if i can maybe limp it to the tuner, or if that will ask for problems or hurt something and need to trailer it.

You can drive it but the trans will default to 2nd (or 3rd don't remember) and won't shift. There are no transmission controls in the manual tune so it will barely move

Will it do fine if i shift it manually?

Or is there no point in trying to drive it. Just load it up and go get it tuned? The tuner is about 50 miles away from me.

Load it up.

What he means is it will lock itself in limp mode. That's 3rd gear only, no OD, no lockup, and it will also apply full line pressure.

You definitely need to get it tune, one for it to actually work and two for it to actually perform well. With the stall, you need to change shiftpoints for proper performance.

you can go from an auto to a standard but not the other way around, the pcm has to be flashed for an auto.
