If it was actually locked then your cheapest option is to buy another pcm. Are you sure they locked the pcm? Locking pcm's isnt the norm although a few people do it. I have pcm's instock for your car.

What do you mean won't connect. HP Tuners Editor doesn't "connect" per se. When you try and read a locked PCM with HP Tuners when it gets to step 3, Requesting Access, it will stop and say Security Access Denied. If it is not getting to at least step 3 then it is another problem.

I wouldn't recommend running a M6 car with a A4 calibration. It will be a 0411 PCM and can easily be flashed with a 01 M6 calibrarion including putting your VIN # in it.

If it has a EFI Live COS (custom operating system) it will lock out HP Tuners. You would need to flash it back to a normal OS with efi live before using hpt on it.

You'll need someone with efi live to license the pcm, then full flash a stock tune into it. Once its been full flashed back to stock then you can use hpt or any other tuning software on it.
I can do it for you pretty cheap but the time you pay shipping both ways you would almost be at the same price I sell used pcm's for.

And if you find someone local they will likely need to buy $125 credit to flash it for you. I bet the PCM LSX Power Tuning is in that ballpark for price. Then you can always have yours sent off and reflashed and have an extra or sell it.
