Default Basically stock 6.0 maxing out 98 maf frequency?

Stock lq4 with ls6 cam and intake and long tubes in my 98. Swapped to the 85mm truck maf, 98 pcm, my own tuning. A little back story, started getting a p0103 randomly on the way to the track one night with the stock maf, so I figured the stock maf is shot. Made some pulls, kept coming back. This was last year.

Upgraded to the 85mm maf, redid the maf tables and made some passes the other night and got the damn p0103 again. I wasnt able to data log as I didn't have my equipment on me, but really, what are the odds of a basically stock 6.0 pulling 11250hz? I know the 98 pcm uses a lower table than the 12000hz that the 99-up goes to, but I'm really not looking to swap at this point.

What are my options? It's pulling around 3500hz at idle, that seems like wasted bandwidth. I'm thinking about trying the resistor between the elements to scale it down... If I can get it to read 1000hz lower at idle, that would give me extra head room up top and I'll just rescale the maf tables to match. Any input?

Never heard of doing the resistor trick. I say go for it and test it. What will it hurt.

I just have to find some resistors now, most of the damn radio shacks closed around here!

If you cant find a radio shack, you can order them from Digikey or Newark. Good Luck.

I literally have 100+ of every 5% resister value ever made. Let me know what range/values you want and I'll mail them to you. No charge.

Thanks man! I stopped at radio shack and picked up a few after work. Tried the 2.2k one which dropped the hz about 500 at idle. I think Im going to leave it as is for the time being, that 500 should hopefully give me enough headroom while I get everything else sorted out.

After a bit of quick tuning tonight, looks like 18% added to the MAF table is the magic number after installing this resistor. Now obviously you're going to want to fine tune your MAF tables, but this should at least get you back close to where you were before the resistor. Keep in mind this is only for a 2.2k resistor, that will change if you were to use a different value.

***I DO NOT RECOMMEND RUNNING WITH A RESISTOR AND NO TUNE, YOU WILL BE WAY TOO LEAN. IF YOU DONT HAVE A WIDEBAND, DONT DO THIS MOD!***

Seems like this did the trick for me, made some pulls the other night and didn't max out the table. Going to try and hit the track this weekend and get some good logs.
