Default No Freaking Spark!!! 411 PCM from Express Van

Backstory, I purchased a complete 5.3 (out of a Tahoe) with harness and PCM from a place and had it delivered to my house. Upon delivery, the engine had rolled on the pallet and crushed the PCM. No biggie, I filed a claim and the company sent me a compatible PCM...a Red/Blue 411 PCM from a 2001....Express Van with a V6. I didn't think anything of it...figured it was the same as the V8 PCM.

So if you have a 411 PCM from a V6 Express Van, what needs to be done exactly to make it work on a 2001 5.3 LM7?

I am trying to start the car for the first time and I'm getting a no spark situation on my setup and have pretty much narrowed it down to something with the PCM. Grounds are good, relays and fuses are good, crank sensor is good, new plugs, new injectors, new fuel, new harness. And VATS are removed. Any ideas?

Current setup: 5.3, 69mm turbo, Setup for Speed Density tuning, LS1 intake, 80lb injectors, E85, Boost Ref FPR. It turns over fine, I have pressure at the rails and fuel being sprayed into the cylinders, just seems no spark is happening.

Start with power to the pink wire at the coils. If that has 12V while cranking then go from there. May be within the harness or connectors. As for the tune, I believe you need to segment swap to a compatible OS from a 5.3. That may be the reason for the no spark as it might need to see a different signal from V6 to the V8. Any codes?

How does a guy swap OS from a v8 to the v6 pcm? I have the original pcm from the tahoe. I took apart the case and everything looks to be in good shape.

0102-MAF circuit low
0103-MAF circuit high
0405-EGR circuit A low
0452-Evaporative Emission System pressure sensor/switch high
0706-Transmission sensor A circuit range/performance
1637-Generator L-terminal circuit
1638-Generator F-terminal circuit
Those are just for a reference if any one else jumps in.
Do you have HP Tuners or EFI Live?

I would hook the other ECM up if it is not completely crushed and see what you get. I am not familiar with the V6 as for using a PCM to run a swap but I would imagine the crank and cam effects will be different.

Plugged the old pcm in and it still didn't start. But it's untuned and still has VATS active so I didn't expect much. Tried hooking up NSS and still nothing. I'm getting frustrated

Have you tested for 12V at the coils with key on?

You need to have the V6 0411 PCM flashed with a 5.3L calibration. You can not run a 5.3L with a 4.3L calibration even though the PCM service numbers are the same.

I assume you have to go to a dealer for that?

Anyone with tuning tools and a bench harness can accomplish it. Problem with most dealers is they won't have a bench harness and need the PCM installed in a vehicle to program it.

We can set it up correctly if you mail it in.

So if I have my harness and pcm on my car, and have access to HPT (not mine, but borrowing it from a shop) and having my car email tuned...what is the best way of flashing the v6 pcm to a v8? And is it free/real cheap? Because if I have to relicense a new VIN, I may as well just license the crushed v8 pcm that I already have. I'm trying to avoid wasting the license fees that I paid for the v6 pcm.

Thanks for your replies btw

hpt 3.0 should have segment swaps in it. should be able to change from v6 to v8 os.

also check grounds at the coils, i usually add another ground at the coil pack plug. I also run additional grounds at the PCM case.

also try and log CKP and CMP and see if those sensors are picking up.

Whats up Zach!

I had checked all my grounds and sensors to make sure those weren't causing the no spark. What we ended up doing was swapping the OS to a V8 type calibration and she fired right up and purred like a kitten.

I had been wondering if I needed to add another ground somewhere tho...just to be sure. Might have to

So did that cost 2 credits to do that? 1 for your pcm, and 1 for the OS that you swapped?

Just cost me 2 credits on my end. My tuner didn't need to buy any credit for the file since he already had it.
