HP Tuners hands down... search through this section and you'll see many satisfied user testimonials.
HP Tuners is simply superior to edit in every way ... and it won't "kill" your PCM
have some more time now
Plus's to HP Tuners:
sub 30 second writes, sub 3 minute reads for most applications
No chance of killing your PCM (it's a safe programmer)
Integrated Scanner (an excellent scanner) so no need for autotap
-- scanner lets you see readiness codes, reset ltrims, logs really fast
Excellent help files describing the tables and what changes do to them
Product is year and model locked and not vin locked, so it has resale... if you have a buddy w/the same year car (and model.. f-body or y-body or whatever) then you can both go in and use it on your car w/out adding another VIN to the cable... if you buy it and sell your car... you can sell your HP Tuners since it's not locked to your PCM
version 1.5 will have integrated wideband O2 support (you provide the wide band O2 setup , and if it can output 0-5 volts, HP Tuners will take that and scan it along w/other engine stuff)
Excellent Customer support, fast responses (and if you lose your software they won't charge you 100 bux for a copy)

It can read a PCM that's already been tuned assuming the PCM hasn't been locked ... you'd have to ask whomever tuned the PCM wether or not they locked it

hptuners is very organized and responsive to needs and has a nice forum and excellent software update distribution (online). Basically hptuners operates at a level that any excellent auto parts distributor or software manufacturer does.
i cannot comment on ls1edit, it looks identical nearly but 1.4 to 1.4 i think the interface beats the pants off ls1edit. when ls1edit no longer vin locks i guess it will be a better choice, but im sure thats a cold day in hell.
with enough folks having hptuners in your city its very well possible you can have all the bases covered (year wise). If anyone ever needed my laptop/2000 cable combo they would be more than welcome to use it , good karma ya know
