Default Is HP tuner worth getting for a stock motor?

How much can you gain from owning the HP tuner software with a stock LS1? looking for people that has actually used the software

Thanks

stock motor , you can gain some... but honestly not worth it... (also by just owning the software you gain 0.00 hp by using it to tune your car it can change... but tuning isn't just "put these numbers here and these here and you run faster" ... it takes time )

now if you're a stock motor but plan on doing mods... it can be worth it because you can log , and watch what changes over the mods, and tune for each mod...

Stock tune is likely not optimized and there's some
power to gain from pushing fuel and spark around.
Whatever you could get from a slightly cheaper
handheld, likely a bit more. But tuning only is going
to remove nonidealities, not add anything magical.

Now, for you A4 boys, let me tell you about how to
get a schnitzel-load more power on the street - trans
shiftpoint tuning. If you'd rather be in 1st gear than
2nd at 30MPH, say... right place on the powerband
when you say so, that's something the handhelds I
have seen won't touch except with custom work.

By the time you are putting down converter, headers,
cam kind of mod money you should be investing in
the tools to make that all work its best.

If you plan on getting mods in the future, I would get it. Tuning is not easy so start learning now.

Yeah, what they said! Sounds like I have some serious tranny tuning coming up. My converter should be getting installed tomorrow, can't wait to see the difference in 60'.

The 4L60E is easy to program with HPTuners. Infact, with it you can liven up the car the way YOU want it to. Correct shift points and firmness are key to good performance with an A4.
