Default Need advice getting street legal in CA

I have a friend moving from Houston to San Francisco and he's wondering what it might take to get his 02 SS street legal in CA. Here's a list of his mods:

* Vortech Supercharger 9 psi boost
* MTI Stage II E Heads
* G1 Camshaft - 115 LSA
* Hooker long tube headers
* y-pipe, Borla Exhaust, no cats

He's resigned to leaving his car in Houston. He's also talking with Andy @ A&A Corvette. Any insight is appreciated!

Have him talk to Rick at Synergy Motorsports, they are up in that area (San Francisco).

A mail-drop address in Reno NV that you can use
for license and registration, and his San Francisco
place is his "second home" Also may help
with the CA state income tax if properly done.

Yah Rick can get him takin care of.

Can can definetly tune it to pass smog.

Worst case the owner will have to slap a set of stock manifolds and cats on the car for the smog test. To get past the visual we have here. Definetly doesn't need to leave the car in Texas

New York recently switched to a no-sniffer test. The inspector just plugs into your PCM and you pass if no codes show up.

This has made my life MUCH easier since my modestly modified heads, cam, LT header car with cats ALWAYs had trouble passing a NY sniffer...

I thought Commiefornia is SUPER strict on modifications; they allow NO aftermarket headers, for example. If you don;t have cats and the Man sees it you go to jail! If you have any headers your car is impounded and a government authorized shop removes them for you at your expense. They are even outlawing NOS!

This place is the least freindly location for anything from the aftermarket.

Suggestion: sell the car and buy a skateboard; we will all breathe easier.
