Is this just a private labeled unit? Vinci doesn't have the best track record among the hard core guys.

it is a joint venture with crane if that's what you are asking. after all, how many vendors here actually grind their own camshaft?

not the best track record, really? what do you consider hard core guys?

I waited and waited and waited for this stupid thing to come out. Finally I brake down and pay for a tune, then bam.............here it is. Oh well, guess it wasn't meant to be.

Hi, finaly. I will place my order next week. Do I call in to order, or is it on the web site?

Also, can you explain a little about what the power tune will do. I am just woundering how it controls A/F ration with such a wide possibility of options, or variables on cars. Do you need a wideband A/F gauge to fine tune it with the incremental adjustments, or can it be done by feel. I am just worried about running too lean and doing damage.

My mods:

K&N intake
Mac headers
Mac cat Y pipe
Borla cat back
180 stat
94 octane

Thanks JA

it's on the website. link in my first post.

http://www.stealthram.com/vhptuner.htm will explain how the tuner works. tuning your car with a wideband is optimal. on a dyno would be best as you can see what happens thoughout the entire rpm range. feel is hard to go by. i just recently played with the tuner on madedo motorsports dyno. i loaded a program. it gave me 8 rwhp. then, i adjusted the power enrichment and got another 2 rwhp. 2 rwhp you just can't feel. here's the dyno from that tuning session. took only 3 runs to accomplish this.

baseline
hi-perf/stock cam tune
10% power enrichment

on the wife's particular set up, yes. because her car has all major bolt ons and heads. when i did it on my 00 formula when it was all stock, it was 13.0:1. the hiperf/stock cam is designed for stock type motors. stock tune on a stock motor is rich from the factory. so, the hiperf/stock cam leans it out and plays with the timing tables as well.

here's the disclaimer, your results will vary.

Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me.

I plan to call Vinci tomorrow and order one. So as I understand it, a factory car usually has an A/F ration that is on the rich side. Also, installing headers on a stock motor may increase the richness.

The stock cam tune will lean it out and hopefully I should end up somewere around 13 (WOT). However, there is no real way to verify this unless I install a wideband O2 setup. If it is lean or rich, then I can adjust it with the power enrichment settings. Is this correct?

Thanks JA
