I did the same thing but no light at first. After a start/stop cycle or two the light is now on. P0103 since I set the MAF fail freq. at zero.

the pcm waits for the MAF to fail x number of times before it trips the SES.

I agree...shut her down then start it up and if there's still no SES then it will probably come on the 2nd time you shut it down then start it up again.

PCM requires two consecutive failed ignition cycles before it will set the SES light.

Its quicker, easier to set the MAF Fail Frequency to 0 and flash the pcm for SD tuning.

Also if you view your DTC's you may see 101-103 pending. That means the maf has failed and the car is in SD mode the light just hasnt come on yet

turn off the ses codes? meaning did you unmark the check box or set to 3 via hptuners if thats the software your using? im not sure exactly how efilive enables the ses...sounds like you messed that up or something.

Why not leave it plugged in? Couldn't you can measure MAF airflow vs. Dynamic airflow and get a jump on dialing in the MAF while working on your VE table?

in order to dial in the VE properly you need to make sure that the engine is running completely off the VE table without the MAF interfering.

once you have the VE dialed in then you can reconnect the MAF and adjust maf

Yep

Fail frequency has always worked for me. If its not I suspect the code has been turned off in your pcm file.

Not saying you can't...I've heard of a few instances where for whatever reason the car didnt instantly drop into SD mode...the extra 12-15 seconds to get out of your car, pop your hood, unplug the maf and drop the hood isnt that much extra work to make sure its in SD as far as im concerned.

I used the fail frequency = 0. I don't turn off the SES light so that I see that the error occurred.

Some C5's incorporate the IAT sensor and MAF in the same connector so it isn't that easy.

one major problem with doing it this way...
until your VE is dialed in perfect...then its not going to be accurate...
plain and simple... it used the VE to get its #'s for accuracy...
only way to correctly and accurately get the MAF is to use a wideband and use AFR error % to get it right
