Crank Sensor Relearn
I saw a member asking for someone to do one. Why would this be needed?
When my replacement motor was installed 4 years ago I was told that I should get it done. I was just curious because I never did.

Any time you put in a new PCM, crank, crank position sensor or crank reluctor wheel you should do it. Sometimes it will throw a code if the PCM can't figure out the crank position (to predict misfires, etc).
It's quick and easy with HPT, follow the help file exactly and it's a piece of cake.
...if you're not throwing the code though, the PCM successfully learned the crank position in the new motor and all is well.

I believe (been a while since I had to deal with this,
PCM swap) that the crank learn gets done automatically
and the crank learn failure code comes when this is
balked, by certain emissions faults. In my case it was
some evap sensor in/on the fuel tank. Thing is if the
test won't run by itself, it may not run when ordered by
the scan tool either. That, and the scan tools seem to
go from working to not working and back again, release
to release (seen it on EFILiveV6 and HPTuners2.0, they
always get around to fixing it but sometimes it pays to
have back versions archived...).
The freaky thing was, the malfunctioning sensor was
able to hang up the crank learn but neither the Predator
nor EFILiveV6 showed any DTC (other than the Crank
Relearn Not Done). But the dealership TechII dug it out.
