No. Programming is not necessary on a cam swap on an M6, but it should be done..i havent done mine yet, but i know i am soon... You should enlargen the throttle body hole to help it idle. However, when you first start the car after the cam swap, don't get scared if it doesnt want to run right for a while...it needs to learn a little at first. it will straighten out..ive had my cam in for about 6 months now and no problems yet...an occasional p0300 random misfire code that clears pretty quickly (ses comes on) but i know what it is and since im getting ls1edit soon, Im not worried Hope this helps.. Now an A4...that's a different story!!!

I agree with SScamaro it won't need it but it should be done. however I wouldn't drill the TB(like I did) I would just adjust the set screw. if you drill it it could/will idle at about 1500-2000 rpms from time to time, and surge quite a bit

With Hotcam, and I'm assuming LS6 springs, you will probably want to bump the rev limiter up a bit also since this cam seems to make power at a higher range than the stock LS1 cam. You could use Ls1Edit to clear misfire codes below a certain RPM so the SES light won't trip during your new lopey idle

Tommy

PS Can't you just raise the idle using LS1Edit?

SSCAMAMARO...... WHEN YOU SAY ENLARGE THE THROTLE BODY HOLE LARGER. WHAT WOULD BE THE SIZE OF THE WHOLE...

THANKS FOR THE INFO

its a hit or miss thing.. some cars wont need any tuning, but some will

do you run ported MAF ends?? if you have ATAP just log your LTRIMS to see how good they look

for idle you may have to raise it 100rpms or so and you may need a little timing added at idle to help with surging

M6 doesnt need as much as a A4 would...

oh and also LOG your IAC count beforeeeee you drill the TB hole any! you want your IAC count in the 20-40range when the car is warm!

The only way to tell if a car requires tuning is to put the car up on a dyno and make some baseline pulls and look at the A/F ratio, timing, Ltrims, etc;

If the numbers are way off then the car will benefit from some fine tweaking.

I got my car to finally RUN on a 11/64" hole in the throttlebody.

Went up to a 15/64" and it is WAY too big. Wont idle down until the computer makes it. Otherwise it will sit around 1100rpm.

Im noticing a lot of odd stuff going on with the car after the cam while the PCM is relearning. A lot of it seems to be with the transmission. I need to go over all my vaccuum lines and make sure nothing is cracked / broken.

Biggest problems right now... converter lockup. It's getting back to where it is pretty consistent at locking up. I noticed the car shaking and sounding like the driveshaft is gonna fly out of the tailshaft while driving it around on a locked converter between 35 and 45 tonight.

Where does the hotcam make most of it's power??? I'm probably going to raise the rev-limiter to 6500 and get the shift points +2.

Other than those problems that are slowing going away... everything so far has been fine.
