Default Getting started with HP Tuners??

So do I need to plug into my car and upload the stock tune, then adjust the peramiters from there? I'm a total newb. Not sure exactly how to get started.

I've got the program installed on my p/c. Downloaded a members bin. to look at. Probably only confused me more.

Little help please

That helps , is there a specific process.

Example:
1) turn on computer and open hp tuners???
2) plug in to diagnostic port???
3) turn key on.???

Does the car need to be running?

C'mon guys hook the tuning newb up!

^^^^ F1 and all your questions will be answered

also

look under getting started

I would suggest reading through the help manual (yea it gets dry but it's useful) first before changing any parameters... they've added so much info to it, it's crazy (I Just reprinted it the other day to read through again)

But basically... key in run position, wait about 10 seconds for PCM to "boot up", on laptop open editor, go to flash-> Read PCM, once done reading (< 2 mins) it'll prompt you to save it.. then it'll open it up

Since you're a 98, keep in mind you should ONLY use your file or derivatives thereof (modifications of your stock file) ... also always use the write calibration only when reflashing

Default Multiple computers and operating system?

Yah... I got it .

Since it's a 98..... If I'm using a two different computers (pc for editing and laptop for downloading, data logging, etc. [don't actually have a laptop yet]) do I need to make sure both computers have the same operating system? I'm assuming YES???

Thanks!!!!

The computer (your PC) OS doesn't matter

Only thing that matters is that you use the file you downloaded from your PCM for all your editing and writing/flashing
