Default Tuning for a big cam

If I can smell fuel pretty good when I'm sitting in the car should I get it tuned better? I have a TREX cam, full exhaust, bolt ons, A3. The previous owner said the car was tuned for nitrous so its a little bit rich. Its not extremely rich to where it burns your eyes but I can definately tell its rich, I'm hoping I can get more horsepower with the air/fuel adjusted.

At idle it shouldn't have the fuel smell. The nitrous tune part should only affect wide open or full throttle operation.

A big cam, especially without cats is going to emit more fumes, it's the nature of the beast.

no, its a full tuning suite...as far as the exhaust smell, with no cats its normal to smell what your smelling...its just unburnt exhaust gas you could be running 15.0:1 and you'll still smell the same thing.

Get use to the smell, no way around it unless you put cats back on the car.

So its like a computer tuning software that I can adjust and then plug it into my car? Does it require a laptop?

Unless you plan on running a 50 foot usb wire out to your vehicle, yes a laptop is pretty much required

With more then capable laptops starting at around $150 on ebay and NEW laptops going for $399 they are very affordable.

Minimum requirements

400 MHz CPU
128 Mb RAM
Microsoft Windows® 98 SE
Serial Port* (Version 1 Serial Interface Only)
USB Port (Version 2 USB Interface Only)

personally though laptops are so cheap NEW that theres very little reason to buy used anymore unless you find a REALLY good deal. I purchased my latest one for $449 & recently bought a 1gb stick of RAM for it and I'll be set for a while.
