Default How can I make the car run slower E.T.'s?

First I give you the details. Stock LS1 with air lid, catback 4000 stall TC in a 4l60e. I have a Predator tuner.

I currently run the car in Bracket racing and it runs 7.9-8.0 ( depending on the weather) with no tune on the car. I am going to big race this weekend and the quickest my car is allowed to go is for my class is 8.20. So I need to slow the car down 2-3 tenths. I have already tried to make the car shift earlier but to no avail as the rpms never drop below 5100 due to the TC. I don't want to put any kind of throttle stop or a block of wood under the gas pedal on the car because I also have nitrous on the car and will use it sometimes during a race. I don't want to spray when the car isn't at full throttle. The other option is adding weight but it will require nearly 300lbs. So I think the next best option is to retard the spark but I don't know how much I can retard it and if there should be any corresponding changes in the tune as well.
Thanks for your help in my dilema. Why did they have to make our cars so dang fast?

Safest way would be to add weight.

sandbags in the trunk. move your weight to the rear, easier to hook, slows you down, no retunes necessary

You could pull WOT timing with the Predator until you slow down enough. Less timing means less power, which means slower ETs. The only side effect might be a richer AFR...

I have the nitrous on a push button in the car and only use the juice if the car spins or to push the other car into a breakout.

Adding that much weight is a problem because I have to go thru Tech and the maximum weight that can be added is 100 lbs. and it has to be secured. The only other option is hide the weight but that is alot of weight to hide in the car.

Thats what I did I took a piece of cardboard and put it underneath the air filter with about 1 1/2 inches open on the ends. then I retarded the spark as much as the predator would let me and it slowed down 2 tenths. Now as long as the car is consistent I will be in good shape.
Thanks

Just sandbag. Hit the brakes on the top end and pace the guy next to you.

Hmmmm, Holeshotz, dont know how I missed this thread, but I think we talked two or three times this week.
Glad the timing and airbox restriction worked out. Good luck with the race, let us know how you do.
P.S.
I think its time to find a heads-up series to run in, enough of this "slowing my car down nonsense", LOL!

For brackets just sandbag...use the gas everytime and know when to hit the brakes. I knew a guy with a Nitrous fed LS1 and ran consistent 14.20's even though the car was capable of low 12.xx's on the gas. He used it to get people to break out. He left the light and was gone and then would brake at the 1000' mark. Don't know how he did it so consistently. Only saw him lose once and that was to a stock SS that ran consistent 14.0x. They left close to the same time and he pushed him to the end of the track and made him break out running 13.9x.
