How can I make the car run slower E.T.'s?
First I give you the details. Stock LS1 with air lid, catback 4000 stall TC in a 4l60e. I have a Predator tuner.
I currently run the car in Bracket racing and it runs 7.9-8.0 ( depending on the weather) with no tune on the car. I am going to big race this weekend and the quickest my car is allowed to go is for my class is 8.20. So I need to slow the car down 2-3 tenths. I have already tried to make the car shift earlier but to no avail as the rpms never drop below 5100 due to the TC. I don't want to put any kind of throttle stop or a block of wood under the gas pedal on the car because I also have nitrous on the car and will use it sometimes during a race. I don't want to spray when the car isn't at full throttle. The other option is adding weight but it will require nearly 300lbs. So I think the next best option is to retard the spark but I don't know how much I can retard it and if there should be any corresponding changes in the tune as well.
Thanks for your help in my dilema. Why did they have to make our cars so dang fast?

Adding that much weight is a problem because I have to go thru Tech and the maximum weight that can be added is 100 lbs. and it has to be secured. The only other option is hide the weight but that is alot of weight to hide in the car.

Thanks
Glad the timing and airbox restriction worked out. Good luck with the race, let us know how you do.
P.S.
I think its time to find a heads-up series to run in, enough of this "slowing my car down nonsense", LOL!
