Air Fuel Ratio Gauge very lean at idle
Everything is running smooth but at start up an idle the air fuel bounces from lean to stoich to rich. What should it read at idle?? any help would be great thanks

It should average at 14.7 but will bounce around
like mad. Just ignore it until you go WOT, and
then just distrust its accuracy....

Those gauges are trash, I have one. It's only fairly accurate at WOT. It should bounce between fully lean and the end of stoich, and maybe into a little rich. The "perfect" air to fuel ratio with gasoline is 14.7, and the computer is constantly trying to maintain this, but overcorrects itself, thus it bounces back an forth. At WOT, it should be a little bit into the rich side.

actually at idle, most vehicles run EXTREMELY lean...its much better on gas mileage..there is no load on the engine so you dont have pinging and it makes alot less emissions....so its probably correct...everyone ive seen is usually lean at idle
