Default Tuning DVD or help

Does anybody know of a DVD that explains how to tune an LS1 or LSX motor? I would like to start tuning my own car, but I am not sure how to start.... any tips? What is the most user friendly tuning kit out there?

For tuning software, EFILive is the best. No one else comes close to matching the bang for the buck.

For tuning instructions, there a few books available in book stores and lot's of info in this and EFILive's forum.

EFILive also includes several tutorials and a demo of their software to get you started.

If there is something specific you are wanting to know, post your question here or on EFILive's forum.

If you go the HPTuners route... there is a home based class. DVD, book and access to live instructors for a year. It is a little pricey, but well worth it from what I hear. I've been thinking about it myself. Walks you through step by step for a stock, head/cam, and supercharger tune.

I am deff interested in the tuning school. A bit pricey, but If it teaches me how to tune for myself then it would be worth it.

What's your definition of "pro"

The EFI University offers hands-on training for EFILive. You can find more information here. I haven't personally attended it, but those who have say it's pretty awesome.

That class seems to just tell you how to use some of the easier functions of the efilive software & does not teach you how to tune, The tuning school's class actually teaches you how to tune LSX based vehicles

Mind your manners Bill. If you will take the time to research, you will find EFI University get's very in depth with tuning LSx vehicles. They offer courses for everyone from the green beginner to the seasoned pro.

StreetRacer - I apologize for not posting a link directly to EFI University. I'm not sure if they sponser this site and don't want to get caught up in that drama. If you follow the link I gave you to EFILive's website, you should be able to find way more than enough information about the training as well as links to EFIUniversity.

I would like to, but I don't have the time or the extra money to go to it. I am looking at the home course right now.

ZeroFear, you are correct. I could have a professional tuner dynotune my car for me one time for that price. However I am constantly changing things on my car and I am looking more at what will happen years down the road. If I am at the track and something does not feel correct, I would like to have the knowledge and ability to tune the car my self without depending on someone else to do things for me. A dyno tune does not last forever, but having the knowledge to tune with with the software I have will last a long time.

Not directly, however many of our resellers offer free shipping &/or discounts on credits(licenses) if you purchase from them initially.

So true Bluehawk, Knowledge is priceless!!

Just to add a little detail for those who are new to us - our learn @ home course is completely HP Tuners based, includes the Tuning Tree (map of table locations), tuning checklists (for bolt on/Heads&cam/Forced Induction or Nitrous) and a full 200 page color workbook that has actual screen shots, descriptions of how/why/how to adjust the tables.

In addition to this step by step structure, we include one full year of free support - which means you can actually pick up the phone and call us, email the file and go over your problem. You also get to use our private forum for customers only, located at www.thetuningschool.com

Thanks!
Bob
