I do and no problems. You do have to be very careful though when it comes to the gas you run. In my area we have 93 octane at most every station. The reason why I do have them turned off is because due to the noisy valve train the car was getting false knock on the dyno and backing timing most every pull. It can be done but you must know what actual knock sounds like and always let off if you ever here it.

I was forced to zero out my knock sensors since the bozo who did my motor used LS2 knock sensors. I didn't notice until after the motor was installed in my ls1 vehicle and now I can't install the ls1 sensors. So far no problems, but like Carter01 says, you must be certain you know what knock sounds like and let off as soon as you hear it.

I have a buddy who had a 600 RWHP supercharged 1996 mustang, and he had no knock sensors. This ultimately caused him to blow up his motor. However, the second motor had forged pistons and he backed timing off a bit. This motor seemingly never suffered any knock induced damage.

Cars ran fine with no knock sensors for decades. Just don't go crazy with timing and run good/consistent fuel.

Im thinking of doing the same thing... I get ~2* of knock all the damn time at WOT and I use 100 octane.

Will knock sensors be less important when running E85?

I also had to 0 my knock sensors. After i did the car ran great. No more vrooom...hesitate.... vrooom I had no knock before the cam swap and was getting KR in the same areas all the time and that were not lean/or had too much timing. valvetrain is a lil noisy and headers sometimes tap the floorboard and it seemed this is where the KR showed up. I did back off timing a tad just to be safe until i get new motor mounts.

I just desensitized mine, I'm NOT going to zero them out. With open headers I wouldnt be able to hear knocks or pings in the motor, so i rely on the knock sensors to keep it safe.

I don't have any, and I have been at 14-16.5psi at 19deg timing up top on pump and meth with an 8.5:1 SCR for about 2 years and 10,000 pretty hard miles, but that's not something that I'd reccomend for most...

I turned mine off below 4500 rpms so I don't get false knock when launching off the trans brake under boost. I leave them on at factory sensativity above 4500 though. This setup has worked great so far.
