Why won't my misfire problems end?
Okay, I was having misfires on cylinders 2 and 6. This ended up being reversed coil wiring. When I fixed it, my 02 were way off (I think one was fouled from all the unburned gas). So, I unplugged them while I ordered new ones (they are on the way). I got intermittent misfires on cylinders 4 and 5 then, but didn't think too much about it. I go to class one day, get back to the car, start up, SES light begine flashing. I Atap it and now I'm getting lots of misfires on 4 and 5. 4 stops misfiring above 2000RPM, but 5 continues to misfire. I'm not getting any other codes other than for the 02 sensors and the misfire. I swapped plugs and checked for spark on #5, it has spark. Anyone have any ideas? I would check the coil wiring again, but the misfires are on different banks. I got on it one time without the 02 sensors, but the car smells like it is running very rich, and I don't hear and detonation that I know of (engine is loud anyway). Any thoughts?

I would not suggest driving around the car without the 02's hooked up.The car will go in limp mode and dump fuel in all the time causing all the other plugs to crap out.
I've seen someone run 1k miles on a new motor without 02's and gas wash it.Expensive mistake.

I just got my sensors in today, so they are going on. I also noticed something else, at times the misfires will go away completely. Mostly when driving lightly, no acceleration, not stopped, not low speed.

Since it has progressively gotten worse since I removed the 02s, although 4 and 5 did misfire a little back before when I first removed the 02s, and they are the only ones misfiring, could it be because of the 02 sensors?
I also switched plugs between 2 and 5,BTW.

Examination of the plugs: 1-3 are normail with slightly light tip, 4 has a white tip, 5 appears wet, 6 is like 1-3, and 7 and 8 are black and sooty.
What does that sound like?
BTW, I checked the wire, #5 is getting spark.

I put in the new 02s, replaced the plugs, and I still got the misfire. Pulled the valve cover, and the rocker arm fell off into my hand. The bolts broke. So, I'm hoping that is the only thing causing it. Hopefully will be fixed soon. Thanka for the replies though.

Yep, both bolts broke off in the head. No clue why. I'm kind of optimistic though, mechanical stuff like that (that doesn't hurt the motor) I can handle better then electrical/PCM crap.
