Vig 3200 and Predator
Really having trouble making this combo work on my '02 car. Rev limiter set at 6300, 1-2 shift at 6000, 2-3 shift at 5800, shift pressure +15% 1-2 and +20%2-3. Spark +10%, Fuel +3%. Stock H&C, gutted cats w/LG Y, Dual-Dual w/cutout. This car ran 12.9's-13'0's all summer long w/stock converter & Nitto's. Now, w/Vig 3200, I'm banging the limiter before both shifts--or it's TM kicking in--or both. Thought I could make a few respectable passes w/Predator before getting LS1 Edit done, but I guess it's not going to happen....Has anyone had any success w/Predator and Vig. 32-3600's, or is Edit the only way to straighten this thing out---I sure can't run it like this...Any Predator help appreciated. Thanks. WJ.

Re: Vig 3200 and Predator
I've seen mention that adding pressure makes the
shift slower (but stronger). I think this is a
bleed-down issue, there's work you can do with a
shift kit or removing checkballs to speed up the
bleed it's waiting for. But anyway, I see no
mention of the shift adaptation time (the other
shift param) and you would want to minimize this
for shifting speed, and maybe play with less
pressure on the 1-2.
No mistaking rev limiter for torque management.
Like a pat on the head vs. a brick.
Easiest way to get onto the rev limiter is to
have your MPH points too high. The upshift can
hang waiting for MPH. On an automatic there's no
real reason to have low rev limits, aside from
the case of transmission shift failure. You could
bump them up safely if your shift points (MPH)
are set to do a proper job, and bumping them to
(say) 6500 will let you see & set a proper 6KRPM
effective upshift. Other thing is, with the shift
lag you want your 1-2 up RPM to be -lower- than
the 2-3 because you run up the RPMs faster in low
gear. Put 1-2 at 5800 and 2-3 at 6000 instead and
it should be more proper "windage".

Re: Vig 3200 and Predator
A transmission shift failure could happen very easily playing around w/Predator, HPP3, etc. That's my reason for a 6300 rev limit w/stock valvetrain. I'm sure you've seen plenty of bent-up stock pushrods from these cars, no? Maybe I'm being overcautious, but... BTW, Jimmyblue: 1-2 mph is 49, and 2-3 is 80. Shift adaption time is set at stock. Thought I'd try 1-2 shift @5500 and 2-3 @ 5600 before I pull Predator tune out for good....Thanks again. WJ.

Re: Vig 3200 and Predator
Is there anyone out there using Predator as a tuning tool who actually goes to the track (1/4) and is running a '01-'02 car with a Vig 32-3600 converter and is having good results? Thanks. WJ.
