Default Just bought..

My first Pontiac..a 1994 3.4L V6. Picked it up with 110,000 miles on it. Got it for $1,200. There's absoulutely nothing wrong with the car. Actually just got 4 new tires 2 months ago. The guy was some rich guy down in the city and had 4 cars and could give a **** about the firebird.
So, I really don't know where to start. What do you guys think(Performance wise) would be the best "bang for my buck"(I hate using phrases lol) as a starter. My friend is going to give it a good tune up first because since its older it could probably use one. So what do you guys think I should do first? As I have no experience with this model or pontiacs in general. Intake? Exhaust? Header?
Thanks.

Or..since it really isn't a very high-powered engine, and I can see that most of you have the LT1's or the Trans Am's, do you think I should just do visual mods and just have a nice car and not really worry about performance? I would like to add one or two performance upgrades, but if you guys don't think its worth it at all, I'd rather listen to an experienced opinion.

I believe there's a few cold air intake packages for that motor. Exhaust is always good for sound/power. You are correct in thinking that visual mods are the more popular way to go for V6's. If it's not super fast it might was well be attractive. Make it unique.

Alright ya thats the way I was going with it. Its funny because I'm the only one in my school(small school) with a nicer car and they all think its the fastest thing ever and when they ask me I just smile. Haha and is it bad to refuse to tell people how little I payed for it? A few friends guessed in the 3500 range...and I don't answer. I feel like I'm indirectly lying to them haha. Thanks for the response.
One question though if I was to go the route of Intake...what brand should I look for cheap and good? K&N? AEM?

that metal pipe would just get hot. if anything, make your own with pipe from lows. but id just get a lid. stock intake is efficient enough for the V8, let alone the 3.4. (i think its the same?).

id do suspension. some visual, but nothing like a hood that would be poser to the V8s. get some good shocks and lowering springs, if you have the $$$

Well do you guys have any suggestions on a good intake then? Thats not overly expensive? Or an exhaust that gives a deep throaty sound thats still noticeable? I hate that ricer **** sound.

my first car was a 3.4 Firebird, same year, auto. That car gave me nothing but head aches, i do recommend an intake and exhaust but thats about it, maybe some visual mods.

The 3.4 can make some power with the right amount of dedication and money. I've got a 3.4 as well and currently I've got a OEM Ram Air intake, Pacesetter headers, removed cat, and a Borla cat-back. That's where I've stopped because I'm satisfied with where it's at now.

Check out www.fullthrottlev6.com and go to the "60º V6 Engine Tech" forum. You'll find a lot of information about the 3.4 and the best mods to do.

Well, the car had an exhaust leak, which lead to the exhaust actually splitting, so I got it welded back for 30. But, I found that all the plugs(rear freze plug, etc) were rotted along with the hoses, so I'm paying around 250(not that bad) to get that transmission dropped so they can get to the rear freeze pump. Besides that my mechanic says everythings perfect. AH.
