Default K & n filter bad???

Hey guys I have heard some people mention that the k & n filter is no good to use on these cars. I have an 01 firehawk with slp lid and k & n filter. Why should I not be using this filter and which one do you all recommend using? Thanks for any information.

I've used them on mine for years. No problems. Troubles might happen after you clean them and re oil them too much.

those are the posts i see to,,problems after oiling, usually the oil is thrown on the MAF and all hell breaks loose. Ive ran mine for 4 years now and have cleaned it, never any issues. Some folks swear by the paper ones though.

I've never had any issues with mine and it's been cleaned 2 or 3 times.

The oil from the K&N type will make it's way onto your MAF. Then, there's the possibility of damaging the MAF when you clean it.

The large paper air filter is good enough.

AFE makes a dry filter now. They flow like the K&N's, but dont' take oil. Supposedly when they get dirty you tap it and all the dirt falls off rejuvinating it.
