Default Window seal on outside of door

Hey guys, I just picked up a 2000 Trans Am WS6 and the seal on the outside of the door that goes against the window is giving me some issues. The clips aren't holding it in place anymore so when I roll up the windows the seal starts to lift up and come out of the door. I've tried searching around but haven't had much luck. Is there a way to change the clips or do I just need to change out the whole seal? Thanks guys

Try junk yards for some clips. Or even the seal. When ever I can't find stuff like this I just go to the junk yard. Lol

Maybe a dab of black silicone on the clips where they attach to the door? I've not had this issue myself, but that is my idea for an easy fix.

Yea, I might try that. I'll try to look around some, but if anyone has had this problem and has fixed it please let me know.

Not very reassuring lol Let me know when you do yours over and if you have any advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Edit: Well, I talked to my brother and he said they just glued his back in place. I think I may do the same. I have no reason to ever take them off.

Do not glue these on! It's really a simple fix. I had both sides of mine do it... one side was original GM, the other side was brand new GM.

I actually took it out and examined the clip. It's been awhile, so you should do the same, but on that flange there is the slotted hole. Then on the moulding there are the steel clips (I think some may be plastic). There are 3 tangs on each clip. I think the center of the 3 is longer than the outer two. This one goes into the hole, and IIRC, the outer two do not go into the hole, and actually go around the bottom of the lip of the flange. This effectively "wraps" the clip around the little 1/8" strip of fiberglass on the door, and ensures it doesn't pop off. I did this over a year ago, and it's been great, not one issue.

Hm, I'll look at it more. Maybe Thursday. I'll try to take the mirror off and get a closer look at it all. Thanks for the advice.

Edit: Well, I looked at it and figured it out. The driverside had just popped out so I did what you said and it seems to be holding good now. The passenger side though has a problem. The longer clip that goes into the slot is broken on most of the clips so I'll either have to get a new sweep and hope I can get it in place properly or just glue it down. Anyone know a cheap place to get those?

Interesting. My pass side does the same thing. I'll get around to looking at it eventually. For now...I'll just yell at people when they roll down that window!
