I searched and could not find anything specific. I know on my 01 z28 the lid is easy hp. On my new ws6 is it the same gains? i wasnt sure if anything about my ws6 airbox is different besides the opening underneath. The only threads i could find spoke more about swapping in a ws6 airbox into a non ram air vehicle.

There will be gains also. The problem with the stock lids in both cars is some plastic ribs they have inside to serve as sound baffles. The aftermarket is smooth on the inside.

no hijack, i love those wheels. What are the specs on them?

Justin, long term is probably just heads and cam. Looking around 450rwhp. Near term will be longtubes/y/catback.

if you do the free mod cutting the bottom of the filter housing, i think its just as good if not better than swapping in the bigger bottom half of the box.

You could always add to the free mod by breaking out all the baffles in the stock lid if your like me and to broke to get one of the nice lids.

Or if you want a stealth look... LS6 intake, modified stock lid, ported/polished lid/throttle body (some will argue this), throttle body coolant bypass and swap to a saxonpc screen in the MAF. Looks bone stock, is not

You will want this for sure once you get a fast 102 and some power.its a ftp 104 lid and a tsp 100mmmaf and bellow. You can see by the can of pepsi it is big.

Has any lid been "proven" to be better than any others? I heard of one before that's been held in high regard, but is no longer available. This has been awhile therefore I don't remember the name. For my case it'll be LTH with tru-dual x pipe, cam and heads, bigger air intake like 92mm or 102mm. Similar route as OP. Feeling we can all gain from this info.

The main advantage of aftermarket lids vs. the "free mod" stock lid isn't removing the fins inside the lid - it's the outlet shape. The stock lid has an oval outlet that creates turbulence. Aftermarket lids have round outlets that smooth out the airflow.

I just bought the 92mm FTP lid from a buddy of mine after going through 5 SLP lids that fit like total garbage on my ws6. I obviously had to use a coupling for the lid to fit my factory MAF but other than that it seals so much better than the SLP ever did. Don't know if I gained anything from the swap but I'm glad this one at least seals

Good to know. I had just recently decided on the 98mm FTP lid over the SLP lid anyways, but that's just all the more reassuring

Yes there was a chart cant find it. Everyone says fast 102 doesnt help on a stock ls1 blah. Blah well they tested it and the more air coming in the better... If you do and heads or get a cam you should go with a 102 fast combo a 100mm maf i got a tsp. And a ftp 104 which is the biggest. I also have more cubes and bigger heads.
