Default leaky turn signals?

i figured out why my turn signal housing hold water and when it rains my bulbs pop....bc the stock 14 year old housing got melted on the top from the 3157 bulb bc of the dumb *** drl so the previous owner never bothered to disable the drls and wa la pop goes the bulbs lol. i disabled the drls via the box behing the radio and installed new 3157 bulbs and new 30 ea housing from auto lamp depo and im extremely satisfied yea i shouldnt drive the sexy **** in the rain but ...anyway i also replaced the driver headlight gear with a metal one and im happy now i have no more grinding when i shut my lamps off at the track (embarrassing)

you could just switch to LED bulbs to eliminate the melting issue instead of disabling the DRL's.

DRLs aren't dumb. It's been proven that people notice the car in many situations that they wouldn't have otherwise - especially silver colored cars which aren't as noticeable in strong sunlight.

Some car forums like the rx8 actually have a joke about silver cars being cursed because the accident rates are so much higher, even if the color isn't more popular. With the rx8, it was only the standard silver cars - not the premium with DRLs - that were getting into wrecks constantly.

Just something for you to consider. I'd put leds in...

It's certainly less common in the larger housings.

That picture you posted looks like maybe the socket wasn't engaged in the housing straight and the bulb was touching. Was it in straight?

buy new housings, get a new flasher, replace the bulbs with LEDs, problem solved. the problem is the bulb is in the bottom, heating up the top of the housing, causing it to melt from the heat regular bulbs put off. you also might want to check the bulb sockets, if the housings have been having water in them, they probably need to be replaced also from being corroded and such...

that one was the worse of the 2 but the other one was to my surprise cracked open in the same manner just to a lesser extent.

it felt like it was seated straight when I unhooked it the first time (replaced the bulb twice before I realized why (that the glass of the bulb literally exploded within the housing), I can already see my new housings showing the early signs of going like this and they're less then 2 years old.
