Default Problem when i brake. 99 trans am.

Sometimes when I'm driving and I brake I feel like the car shakes or stumbles. I'm not slamming on the brakes either. It usually happens when I'm driving 50+ and I have to brake but no matter how slowly I brake it always feels like it shakes. How can I fix this?

Yep, yep, change out your pads and rotors and you'll be fine. Mine was doing the same thing and I replaced everything with the BrakeMotive kit and it has worked flawlessly since!

I like this. How much does this kit cost? Would you recommend any other brakes? Like c5 brakes?

They used to be a sponsor on here, I'm not sure if they are anymore. I'll send you a PM with where I got them from and how much they were.

As for other brakes, I haven't used any other brands, but many people on here have used Baer, Stoptech, RPM Speed, and others with varying degrees of success.

If you do new pads and rotors make sure you clean the caliper slides.

Looks real nice. I'm going to do that as well. Any problems with the kit?

FireTA99, welcome to LS1tech!

I've been through a few dozen rotors in my time. I've bought cheap, expensive and high end really expensive rotors.

I've found that even the cheapest rotors perform almost on par with the most expensive ones. These days when I need rotors, I look for Plain Jane blanks, no holes, grooves, nothing. It's PADS that make the difference-and calipers in good working order. They need to slide properly on their pins-which should be greased.

I use YellowStuff pads from EBC. Worth the bucks.

When driving, the rotors get hot-especially after braking down from speed. Avoid puddles or getting the rotors wet when hot. Washing the car? See that steam coming off the rotors? That's your rotors warping.

I live in Texas, in the summer it gets really hot. My rotors are warped then.

With the temperatures the rotors attain, the outside ambient air temperatures really don't affect rotors ability to absorb or dissipate heat.

Get yourself some new rotors, decent pads and make sure the calipers are all good.
