Noise past 90 mph! What the hell
Hey guys
The last 2 months have been crazy. Did a bunch of work to my 96 WS6. This is what I have done.
1) diff rebuilt, new seals and all
2) yoke / u-joint replaced on my steel driveshaft, they said they balanced it
3) 4 new tires, balanced and all
4) new Competition Clutch stage 2 with a resurface flywheel, SPEC TB
I went up to 90mph the other day and heard a loud humming noise, went away when I slowed down. So it happens 90mph and up. Only thing I think it can be is the driveshaft, but does the aluminum driveshafts help eliminate this? I've done a lot of research, I come up with that.
Any advice would help, everything is new, even had the diff rechecked "had a small leak" but the car hasn't been driven much between the rebuild and check up.

It is very very faint around 85 but as soon as you go past 90, it is a constant loud noise, could be rotational, everything was left to stock specifications.

There is only noise at the point, I am still in the break in period on my clutch, cant really rip it lol

There was a factory bulletin about this back in the day of the LT1 cars. GM recommended replacement with the aluminum shaft. I had GM connections back then and the factory replaced it. If you want a permanent fix, this is the way to go. Aluminum driveshafts aren't hard to come by.

If all is well, you can adjust the glass stops to seat tighter against the seal.

This happens over time as the glass pulls away from the seal. You may want to check to make sure your regulator rivets aren't tearing in to the door and causing your glass to come up short against the seal.
