Default Getting ready to buy 2002 ta WS6

The car is stock except for it has a flowmaster piece of crap muffler on it. It is an 02 Ta WS6 auto with 32k on it. Is it going to slow me down with that muffler because my brother has his stock 2002 ta WS6 exhaust I am thinking about putting on. Let me know what you guys think. I just hate flowmaster and I don't want it to slow me down. Thanks, Jared

I just bought a 02'WS6 with a flowmaster and TS lid already on it but I planned on going with true duals and bullets so I wonder how much louder that will be over the SLP loudmouth?

I doubt you'll be able to exceed 80 mph with that Flowmaster muffler.

Unless of course you live in a mountainous region, then you should see at least 82 mph while going downhill. Flowmasters are evil, although I have yet to see any dyno proof of it. Ron

Are you talking about LM1 or LM2? I heard one is louder than the other.

I like my flowmaster and hit 120 on the way to vegas before letting off the gas so i dont really see it hurting the performance on any level that you can acully feel.

I was being sarcastic, but seriously I see everyone badmouthing flowmasters and I could care less....my problem is that I have never seen a dyno comparison between flowmaster and anything else. I am not sure where the dislike of them really comes from. Ron

I agree with you, ive never seen any proof that a flowmaster hurts your performance. It may or may not give you the best performance compared to other aftermarket exausts, but then again ive never seen any proof of that either. If some one has proof could they post it (proof please, not opinion).

i've heard of a few people who installed a cutout on a flowmaster catback gaining 23 horses, . . they put in a hooker exhaust and with the cutout closed it was 3-4 horses less, . . pretty big difference, .

plus my buddy has a 2001 ram air with lid, longtubes and flowmaster, everytime we raced i'd beat him, (mods at the time were jus a cutout!) . . i told him i kept on beatin him cause of the flowmaster, he switched to a corsa muffler, (not system - he just bought a corsa muffler and welded it in replace of the flowmaster) . . now he's a lil faster than me now, . . .

Theres dyno proof somewhere around here about how much a flowmaster restricts. I think the case that 02TransAm/Batmobile is talking about was on a high HP application, so don't expect those kind of numbers. Just get a cut out for now, you'll spend about $50 from start to finish, it will flow better than any cat back (it kinda has to) and will do you just fine until you get longtubes and its too loud all the time.

flowmaster sounds good but yes i have heard it flows worse than stock. i had it on my 02 ws6 and without cats and headers it sounds like a tin can. went to a dynomouth (pro-flow muffler instead of bullet) and yes you can tell a big difference in sound for the better but i don't have any dyno numbers to back the performance up. flowmaster tips are alright too
