Default Can someone tell me what engine is in this TA?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=1&cardist=146

Hey guys,

I am really new to the sight and the lt and ls engines in general and i am looking to buy a TA soon and was wondering if this car would be worth my time. it would be my daily driver and i will be making my 95 M3 into my track car.

Thanks,

Jon

With the mods would this car be worth getting?

I want something that is at least as fast as my M3 if not faster for my daily driver and my M3 will do a mid 13 in the 1/4. Would this car be in that same area?

thanks,

Jon

There are plenty of stock LT1 Cars that are faster than your modded M3. You should buy the Car and make it your track car. With bolt ons alone you could be in the 12's.

thank you sir. that is all i needed to know. my little M3 does well for itself on a straight track considering what it only has maybe 230rwhp. When i said track i meant road track.

I don't doubt i could have the TA doing well in the turns, but my M3 already has a good amount done to the suspension and is a proven car at the road track.

I may have confused you when i mentioned the track and i should have specified.

Just out of curiousity, with the mods on that TA what do you think it could do in the 1/4?

Thanks for the replies so far guys, they are much appreciated.

Toss some good tires on it and that car could be a low 13 high 12 second car. It looks like a real clean car but with 100K miles on a 97 I would say you can get it for less than the asking price. I have seen similar cars go for 8K, plus its modded which usually results in a lower price, so id say go test drive it and if it is a tight/clean car then go for it but I wouldnt offer more than 8K in my opinion. Also, looks like you have a nice m3 in your sig, but you should def check out the hybrid/conversion section on this page as a lot of the bmw guys have done an ls1/ls6/ls2/ls7 swap for road track courses and the cars move out. Also, I believe the ls1 is lighter than the I-6 in the m3.

right you are about the ls1 conversion, and that is something i am looking into( or at least starting too). i am not sure how if i could qualify in some classes or not so that is something i would need to find out.

I really appreciate the info bro! Thanks for the reply.

I would have no idea on how fast it would run w/ the performance parts it has on it, but I would bet that it could only get better. Yeah, I agree on the 8k thing. I bought my 98 Formula 3 weeks ago for $5500. It has 122k on it also.

If you do not do the conversion, I would wait to find a good deal on a LS1 t/a.

thanks for the advice guys. i will wait and be patient.

i wouldn't mind finding one for 6-7k if possible that would be a good daily. i don't really need a drag car cause i am more a road racing guy having owed 4 bimmers. i do want something that i can enjoy everyday and can still hold its own.

i really don't think i can go wrong with the ls1 so i will hold out for one of those.

i really appreciate all the help guys.

I sold my 97 WS6 2 1/2 years ago for $8500 with 79k miles. It had paint issues but mechanically and structurally was fine. The best I could get on a trade was $5,500. There are deals out there, just gotta be patient.

Get an LS1 Stock, it will smoke your M3 stock with out any mods. and with good tires it can run low 13's or high 12's...stock, nothing but motor.

[rant]If you're going to sell your car, CLEAN THE ******* THING OUT!!!![/rant]

Looks like a decent car aside from the way-to-high price and the retarded 'racing' seats. Our cars come stock with racing seats heh, if they're electric.

oh there is noooo doubt it would eat me in a straight line, but i am more about road course where the camaro or t/a would be hard pressed to stick with me.

i will be patient and i really appreciate the responses from all of you.

my M3 is quick for what it is, but it is noooo LS1.
