It will happen to your headlights. Eventually they will stop working. You have to get it repared when it starts making that noise. As for the "lock or unlock the doors" not sure something electircal. One issue might not have to do with the other.

You need a new headlight motor. It's on the same circuit as the power door locks; so every time you use them the headlight will go up and down. It's a common problem for the 4th gen TA's. Some repair the motors, but I just replaced mine with a new OEM motor to save the hassle.

Known problem with the gears in the headlight motors.
Fact.
When you lock/unlock, they will do that when the gearing is screwed up.
Couple options to fix it.
1) Open it up & turn the gears 180 degrees to an unworn area. (But they will go bad again, as they are plastic.)
B) Buy the brass gears from the aftermarket suppliers. (Search 'franker brass gears' on google for one resource, & replace the plastic ones with the brass ones.)
Third) Buy new or used replacement motor package.

(Ya beat me to it DrkPhx, ..., While I was typin', you already replied, ...)

Save the time and hassle and just replace it with an OEM motor. There is a place on Ebay that sells new GM units at a good price, or try SDPC (sponsor here >>).

The plastic gear strips, I replaced mine with anodized aluminum. You can rotate the gear 180 degrees and you the other half of the gear until you get a new one or rebuild it with a metal gear.
