Default My 81 Turbo "Bandit"

I finally got some time to take some crappy pics of my new "baby" this weekend. I thought I would share them.

I know. I am going to have the car repainted and re-decaled hopefully by next year. So it will be perfect.

Actually, the 301 was a Pontiac engine. But a fast car....NO. But it sure gets heads on a swivel going down the road! When I want to go fast I drive my Firehawk.

Correct, he must have been thinking about the Olds 403 "6.6 Litre".

NICE clean example you have there, I love the 2nd gens, even the ones w/ square headlights. HotRod featured an '81 Turbo T/A a month or so ago that I believe ran in the 9s on the essentially stock rear suspension. He had a *few* more cubes under the hood, and a tad more boost too.

Sharp piece. My boss has an 18,000 mile '80 Turbo model with black hobnail & lombardy cloth interior. Shame they don't have much power but they are definately sweet looking!

Don't they use a special intake manifold? Instead the blow through carb setup.

Not a day goes by that I don't miss my 80 Turbo SE TA that I stupidly sold 10 years ago. I think the 2nd Gen turbo SEs are the best looking TAs. Very sharp looking car you have there!

Yes, special intake, instead of the carb mounting on the intake, the turbo charger mounts on it. The carb is mounted on the inlet side of the turbo, so it's a draw through design, not a blow through.

Thanks. I have wanted one of these cars since I was a kid. My dad owned a red 80 Turbo and I loved that car. I used to make him take me out at night to see the turbo lights. I remember crying so hard the day he sold it to my uncle. So I have waited a long time to find the right one at the right price. And, It HAD to be a "bandit" !
