Default Anyone have a Katech 427 in their bird?

I've been considering taking my car up to Detroit to have the Katech guys drop in that sleeved "Value-427" LS2 option that they have (because an LS7 swap costs about $50k or more), but I want to know if anyone has done it already, and what they think of it?

They seem to be a good shop, but they are EXSPENSIVE x10. You can get it done just as reliable and a 1000 times cheaper at any other shop.

As a matter of fact, yes. I may be taking a MEU to the Med, or we could be going to Japan, or Afghanni. Depends on what the guys with the shiny collars decide. Either way, I'll have a little extra lettuce to drop in the general area of my baby's hood.

As for getting a sleeved 427 LS2 built for me for "1000 times less", can anyone give me a name? Or a website? Phone number?

I don't want a rebuilt big block, or carbureted... I like the LS series. Most of the accessories from the LS1 are compatible, and it'll have better than 12 mpg highway.

Built 427 short block for $5850 or the long block for $9850

Katech's 427 shortblock is $6950. Not 1000 times less lol, but $1100.

If that motor was 1000x less, it would be a $6.95 motor (don't we wish!). I think we'd all have them if they were that cheap!

It would definitely be cheaper to go with a different shop, but they do know their ****. If it were me, maybe I would adjust my budget and get an engine built as a long block, that way you were getting something optimized from the pan to the intake, to the tires. Its also cheaper in the long run. TRUST ME. Talk to Vengeance racing. They are a sponsor here, and they will put a monster under that hood. www.vengeancerd.com

I asked Katech what it would take to do the entire swap. They told me if I bring them my car, they would build the long block, use all my accessories from the LS1, do an engine dyno, then pull the LS1 out and install theirs, rebuild my trans, and dyno and tune the whole setup. About $25k for everything. Since they build the C5R, C6R, and the CTSV-R, I assume they know what they're doing.

if you have the money to toss around, go for it. it's your car, only YOU have to be happy with it, but i'm another face in the crowd of millions who will say save your money and go somewhere else. Katech does awsome stuff, but i don't see how the stay in business and justify those prices.
