The lifters have been known to fail on the DOD, LCA's are also known to be an issue. Both of those issues can be fixed with aftermarket stuff. Then you have the normal cheap GM interior. The brakes are also known to warp fast due to the inadequate size but then again, camaro/cts-v brembos fix that.

All I have had is a failed fuel pump, window switch and need new brakes. For what they are going for in certain areas, I wouldnt say its a bad car for the money.

Great car for the $, like bandit said LCAs DOD lifters, but a cam swap will fix that. The transmission desperately needs a tune from the factory settings, they suck. They are pretty bulletproof cars though; I never had an issue with mine. With just bolt ons I was low 13's high 12's in my 08 GT

Front strut bushings also, but easily fixed with poly mounts.

I've owned a lot of GM's and this is by far the best and most fun to drive.....

Lifter failures and lower control arms are the most common. I've had two separate lifter failures, one set of lower control arms go, and that's really it.

Car is cammed now so all that DOD garbage is gone.

I think that's a function of how hard you use it.

The only issues I have had with my GXP is the clutch pedal gets a little sticky and I have had some interior pieces give up on me for no apparent reason. Holden cars are like that, which this is just an Americanized version of. My 2005 GTO had interior issues as well. Not a show stopper, just something to know about.

Made me want to run mine into a telephone pole. Traded it in before I had the chance.

None of the above, including lifters and LCA's. Steering wheel absolutely steady.

LCAs, lifters, driver side front wheel bearing. All warranty repairs. I may consider selling mine soon. Got a kid in college and that's not going to get any cheaper.

Just get a G8 GXP with an M6 and forget about the annoying transmission tune, DOD stuff, and call it a day

I have 53,xxx on mine and the only issue I have had so far is the driveshaft vibration. New driveshaft under warranty fixed that.
Oh yeah the rear tires wear out fast. If I could do it all over again I would have gotten the GXP M6
