Vauxhall VXR8 Hints At Pontiac G8 GXP
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/26/v...rowl-uk-roads/
Once again the UK gets the better model. When we got the Monaro based GTO, they got the hot HSV GTS there as the Monaro VXR. Those ballsy ***** in the UK also offered a 500hp supercharged Monaro VXR500 as a last hurrah for the car before it was discontinued, something that wasn't even available on the Aussie car. Now while we get the 362hp Commodore based G8, the Brits get the hot VXR8 which is based on the 411hp HSV Clubsport R8. Hopefully GM will bring the same Clubsport R8 or perhaps the GTS over to the US and sell it as the G8 GXP. IMO they could even leave the front end intact. The HSV front end isn't a completely typical Poncho front end (which is kind of a good thing), but it does have a split grille that I think is good enough to pass the "Pontiac front end family look" test.

Wow thats a bad-*** looking car. It really does suck how we hosed, and are unable to buy cars like this. The G8 is nice but i would love to consider a GXP model that looks like this as a daily driver.

The car, while sportish, I don't care for the front end, real short, and not aggressive enough looking.
If they offer another 500HP model, it certainly won't be available in the US, as GM isn't going to let a large sedan rack up too much horsepower against the Vette and new Camaro. Even though the Vette and Camaro will weigh less, they won't let the GXP model show up the Vette like that. Expect an LS3, but nothing more powerful

Dont get too excited guys, this thing costs over $70,000 here in the UK and the engine is the old LS2, not the new L92 similar to the LS3 that will be in the G8!

^ If you were to see half the **** we get over here, that thing will make them all look like ****. We see most of the cars you guys get, and they look awesome compared to what we get.

Escort Cossies/WRCs, as an example. We could have had a domestic nameplated, Evo/STI killer BEFORE those cars were even available here. But NOOOO, Ford USA just refused to give us those rallymeisters.

The standard Holden parts are much cheaper and what most GTO owners who want a different look go with.
