Do we know for sure there will be a 6 speed?
I just test drove a G8 auto . I am very impressed and plan to pick one up . Only thing is the wife wants a 6 speed, this will be her everyday car so what she wants she gets, HAHA.
Anyway , will the GXP only be a 6 speed or will the Standard G8 model be 6 speed in the 09's. Also when would they be released?
Thanks for any help

No manual tranny for 09 GT's....
Email from me to Pontiac: I'm looking at a G8 GT, but have heard mixed rumors on a 6 speed manual transmission. Can someone please provide me info on whether the 09 G8 GT's will have manual tranny option, or is it only an
option on the G8 GXP???
Their answer: Thank you for contacting Pontiac and your interest in the 2009 G8 GT! We appreciate the time you have taken to write us.
A new six-speed Tremec TR6060 manual transmission is optional on the 2009 G8 GXP. This next-generation manual smoothly transfers the engine’s power and torque to the rear wheels with a reduction in shift throw. The transmission features a host of refinements including premium gear synchronizers; stronger gears, housing, and bell housing; a single-piece counter shaft; and machined gear teeth.
This 2009 model will join the Solstice, G6 and Torrent GXP models in Pontiac dealerships in late 2008. The G8 GXP takes the G8’s responsive driving experience, refined passenger environment and aggressive good looks to a new level. It also delivers an enjoyable driving experience, thanks to a 6.2L V-8 that produces in excess of 400 horsepower.
However, the 2009 G8 and G8 GT are only available with automatic transmissions: a 5-speed for the base vehicle and a 6-speed for the GT. We apologize for any inconvenience.
We have listed below the changes scheduled for the 2009 G8. We hope this information proves helpful.

I believe the GXP will have a $38-40k sticker price, IIRC.

Another post said when its close to the 09 models they will post specs. I think it depends on options. I sure dont want to buy a moonroof personally I hope Im not forced. The premium+sport is $31,845. I figure the upgrades will be around $4k maybe? So I am guessing $34-36. I started a new job and I am throwing money down to put a big down payment on one, but maybe I will wait until 2010 to get a 1 year old someone doesnt want. I really want a manual.
Actually scratch that. I am waiting to see how bad the MPG on the GXP will be. With the manual the gears change from 2.92 to 3.70 but the 6th gear is around 0.57 compared to the 6l80e's 0.667. Also will be losing DOD but you also get a little increase because a clutch is slightly more efficient than a torque converter ( so I believe ). And perhaps the slightly more stout 6.2L will help propel this 4,000lb car a bit easier. We will see what its rated at but if its like 12/18 or something I think I will pass.
