Default G8 GT vs GXP?

So the GXP would get the LS3 which has bigger displacement, but same heads/intake and better tune but thats it??(plus the suspension/option etc.)

I just discovered the GT had the L92 heads..

Am I wrong or there wont be a huge difference?

Will probably have a bit more of a bodykit on it, as well as wheels.

The biggest differnce is the LS3 cam. If they cost a good deal more it doesn't make much sense to me. I'd rather have the sleeper GT with a nice mild cam.

...It seems to me that the GT will be a better option anyway since it has the L92 setup. A bit modded will be as good as a LS3. GT will have M6 too next year.

Now I understand why those G8 can be quicker than I thought.

I'll take the LS3 with the absence of the DOD lifters to deal with and extra bit of displacement.

GXPs also get 4 piston Brembos on the front.

I thought GM confirmed that they in fact would NOT be getting 6 speeds now, only the GXP. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I missed this one..Bad move by GM if true. You can have a manual Accord, Altima, Maxima but not the G8 GT LOL

That's what I thought, too. Dumb, unless the GXP is not overly expensive compared to the standard GT.

I am pretty sure the reason why the manual is not in the GT is because DOD does not work with manual transmissions so why make a non-dod GT when people can just buy the GXP.

Apparently the Auto uses less fuel too, so will help CAFE standards.

DoD does not work with manuals and thats why you can't get the Gt with a manual. It is also the same reason the 5th gen has two engine options L99 for auto and Ls3 for manual.

One thing I did not see mentioned with GT vs GXP was the gear. The GT has 2.9 and the GXP M6 will have a 3.7. I am sure that plays in to the 0 to 60 times.

No, new L99 = LS3 with Dod/AFM.

BTW, G8 gets the LS3, no Dod/AFM for that.

Also 3.27 A6 (3.70 M6) rear vs. 2.92 Auto , so the GXP should be much quicker.

GM is stating 13.0 1/4 mile, 4.7 0-60; not bad for a stocker if those number hold true. LS3 will make more power than L76, you're starting with 40hp more and from what we know so far (402 rating is because of restrictive intake/exhaust compared to the vette ratings, so there's probably 20hp right there....just like in the GT).

Just going to come down to price difference--$5-6K no way, 3-4K hmm: 40 hp, better gears, better seats, brembos, better suspension, better front fascia...

Here's some pics of a GXP, in Michigan:

(Sorry for posting another forum, but they aren't my pics).
