Whats the biggest rear tire that will fit a GTO?
What is the biggest tire that will fit on a stock 17" GTO wheel? Are you guys running 275s with no rubbing issues? What rear coil spring...stock or?
Also what drag wheel fits the best on the rear? 15x8 or 15x10 and what back spacing? Can you get a 26x10.5" slick under it?
I don't know jack crap about the wheel/tire/suspension combos that everyone runs on these cars for drag use. I'm an fbody man! lol So help me out please! Thanks

15x8 = 5.5bs and 15x10 = 7.5bs....same as an F-body. 275/50/15 by hoosier fits very well. Tou will have to roll/cut the rear fenders and possibly cut the shock sleave off, along with slight modification to the inner front area of the fender well (on the rear). I had to do all of that running a 275/50/15 M/T drag radial. Also, its a good idea to get drag bags. I cant remember for sure but I think a 26.0-10.5-15 bias-ply will fit too.

i cant see how its possible. Put it on the lift yesterday took the wheel off and put a 275/35/18 on a tranny lift and put it in place. It looked as if the tire would be almost flush with the rear quarter. If this is the case, when I accelerate I would rub for sure.

easy, when you put it up on the lift, the wheels fall down and out, giving it the illusion that they will be flush with the fenders, (IRS) when you set it back down, they will go up and in

I've heard different tire brands tend to run wider. People have no problems running 275 nittos but have trouble with 275 M/T's.
At the very least I plan on rolling my fenders before I throw my M/T's on for summer. (stock 17's)

You can run 275 40 17's micky thomp on these cars people. I'm doing it right now on the stocker 17's. You must run drag bags though. Drag bags will probably bee needed to control wheel hop anyways so spend the 100 bucks and geta set. You can put them in yourself if you got basic mechanical skills.
The only time I have rubbed my fenders was when I let all the air out of the bags. I always run 8 lbs in then on the street. I recently put 10 in them to see what would happen. The car cut a 1.56 sixty foot. I now run 10 at the track and 8 on the street.
Get mickys not nittos. Nittos suck for racing but great for mileage. Veery stiff sidewalls.
