Help! Weird whine noise above 2000 rpms! Video Inside!
My car had been making the noise from the video below and we got underneath the car and tracked the noise to the bell housing.
I decided that it was probably the pilot bearing...
last month I switched out to an LS7 clutch/flywheel. I replaced the Slave cylinder/throwout bearing and pilot bearing. Switched to Motul rbf 600 and installed a speed bleeder.
The clutch swap did NOT fix my sound!!!
I've finally got a chance to take some video of the noise...
With parts + install im over $1000 into my problem and still have not fixed the issue. Any other ideas?
What i know:
-I have a new - clutch, flywheel, slave, tob, pilot bearing, and correctly bled new fluids
-The noise is coming from the bell housing
-The shop said the input shaft tip had VERY minor wear on it, he said its nothing that will cause my issue...
-My transmission works fine
-Both the dealer and the shop said WTF... ive never seen/heard that...

Again, the noise starts at 2000rpms and continues until its drowned out by engine noise. It happens in all gears. I can put the car in neutral, rev the engine to 2000 and the noise will start and continue. I can press the clutch pedal in and out and it has no effect on the noise. Once i put the car in first gear, let the clutch out to move the car forward the noise will stop... at least until i start driving and get up to 2000 again.

I have noticed a whine type of sound with my car. Only I've located where it's coming from. For me, its noise coming from beneath the shifter. I'm assuming I have the crap rubber shift boot under there.
But your noise sounds almost like a metal on metal contact. Not a whine. At least to me. Did It do this all of a sudden or is it like this since you did your clutch/slave/etc. ? It reminds me of the sound my A/C condenser on my T/A made when it died. That high pitched grinding sound.
Only thing you could do is get the car up on a lift running, and listen. Does it make that sound at all times, like at an idle with the clutch in?

The noise has always done it... i didnt notice it/know to listen for it when i bought the car. I thought it was something that i changed out recently (clutch, fly, slave, tob, pilot bearing) but that isnt the case...
