Default Mcleod RXT/Quicktime SFI Bellhousing/HSC Motor Mounts....installed!

Well after having a problem with my Monster Stage 3 (spring popped out of the clutch disc) I decided it was finally time to put my Quicktime Bellhousing on that had been sitting in the garage for 6 months, the new motor mounts from Hinson Supercars, and get a Mcleod RXT.

Next up will be a new DS and some axles/stubs.
Anyway here are some pictures...

New HSC Motor mounts. They are a little stiffer than stock and transmit more NVH, but I love them. They're not too harsh at all.

While I was waiting on the new clutch to get here I put in my new pilot bearing, and got the bellhousing and blocking plate fitted. I had to clearance just a TAD around the starter and a little around the drivers side header, but that was all. Painted the grinded parts on the bell black and let it all dry.

Friday I..
-Got the SFI backing plate on
-Got the new RXT bolted up
-Bolted up the bellhousing
-Picked up a new slave, fluids, etc....
-measured with the new clutch and bellhousing to see if needed a shim and got it behind the new slave.
-put in the new output shaft seal

It was nice not having to rush and worry about getting it done all in one shot. Took beer breaks, took some pictures, had to make a trip to the store for a certain socket I couldn't find for the life of me....
Anyway, here are the pics I took.

Got the trans back in Saturday morning, bled, tested the clutch, and got the exhaust back on.

Its amazing how dirty my car got after a month of just sitting, in a garage...

ALSO, I finally broke down and took the rear valance off and cleaned/repainted it.

Stock, was just a glossy grey that I had painted the "GTO" red. It was stained around the exhaust tips a little (that came off if I actually would clean it lol) and there were alot of little stains and scratches on it.

Alot of people get them color matched so that it blends in with the rest of the car, but I really like how it looks being separate, like on the Cobra's.

So I got some Satin black paint, some red, and some matte clear and went at it. Pulled the valance off, prepped it, cleaned it and got it all setup. Painted the entire piece satin black and then cleared it. Let it all dry overnight and then cam out this morning and taped off the bumper so I could prep/paint the letters red, then resprayed the entire thing with a few more clearcoats.

Before.......

After......I wish the satin black was a little lighter than it actually is, but I'll see how it grows on me before I strip it for something else. The red in the letters aren't actually that bright, think of more of a brick red.

I've been looking at that clutch for my GTO. How is the clutch? Did you use the stock flywheel and did it need a shim?

You actually won't be able to use the stock flywheel. (I don't remember) but from what Mcleod told me about it, is the the outside ring where the adapter ring bolts to, is recessed on the stock unit.
I love it so far, drives like a stock clutch with a heavy pedal. I don't have enough miles to beat on it yet though.

LOL Yes.

Well the bellhousing socket I had, I needed to get one for the pressure plate. I have an entire set or Metric/Standards, but they aren't deepwells....sooo now I have an entire set of deepwell metric/standard 12 points lol.

I like them to be a different color too. The picture really doesn't show off the difference between the gloss black and the satin.

Nice work Greg. Letting parts sit for six months sounds like me, lol. I really like the blacked out valance.

Thanks guys.

Ethan the bellhousing just sat because I just bought it when I had some extra cash laying around and told myself that I'd get around to putting it on eventually. Everything else went in pretty much the day I got it from the brown santa claus

Yea i did have to use one. But it you need to measure to make sure so it could be different if you do the same.

Very nice! Post up review after you get few miles on it. I am making the change from a Monster 3 to a twin disk as part of this winter's project and I'm curious how you like it.

FYI, I left in 1991 and still miss Southern Illinois. My car will be in hibernation for another couple months and you guys have green grass already! Edwardsville is probably wall to wall with Collinsville by now. I remember when the nationals used to come through town until they got the boot for ripping up the streets.

Well I've got about 1000 miles on it now, and I love it.
Still has a nice heavy feel to it, but engages and drives like a stiff grabby stock one. Doesnt chatter, and it doesnt act like an on/off switch like my monster used to.

Great to know. The 6 puck grab great but are a chore around town. Looking forward to getting the car back with the new setup.
