Steering Wheel HELP!
Recently bought a 2005 GTO. I noticed the steering wheel has some play in it and wasn't completely straight. Yesterday i had it aligned and both front tie rods replaced. Even after all this, if you turn the steering wheel to the left and then back to center, it stays cocked to the left just a little bit (and the same to the right). The shop that did the alignment wanted to tear apart the steering column and had no idea what was causing it. I tried searching on here, but haven't seen much relating to this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I did notice a slight leak from the top of the pinion. I also noticed that this same piece is directly in the center of the headers on the drivers side. Could the heat be effecting the rack/pinion?

On my rack if you loosen up the bolts it will slide a little bit and if you slide it from one side to the other i should straighten the wheel. Or at least that's how fixed my wheel.

The problem is that the wheel isn't stuck on one side or the other, it simply goes a little further in whichever direction you turn and then doesn't go fully back to center until you turn the opposite direction etc.

check your radius rod bushings. mine went bad and one actually broke out of the control arm causing the front to dip, breaking the control arm and bending my radius rod. my steering also had play in it and had to keep the wheel slightly left to keep straight.
