So I am planning on doing a head cam swap on my 2004 gto currently I am have slp throttle body, kook lt, kook high flow, lingenfelter ca, msd ignition, and 3200 stall. I want to swap to 243 heads and a good cam. What would you recommend for a cam? I dd my car but I don’t have a long drive maybe 5 mins to work. I am right at 58k miles on the car. I am looking for around 400 to the ground. My car current is 325 to the ground

You could get 400 if the heads are P&P. You don't need a huge cam to get there and with a 3200 converter I wouldn't go super big anyway. I always say the TR224 114LSA cause that is what I have and it has been great. You could probably go a little bigger than that.

Before my 3.91's went in the car dynoed 392rwhp. If my 243's weren't stock I probably would have been over 400rwhp.

Search the site, plenty of cam threads. TR 228 is a good cam put you around 400 w 243s but remember dynos are a tuning tool, you should build your car according to your goals for it not just for numbers.

IMHO the SLP TB & MSD was a waste of money. A better intake, a bigger MAF and a Street Sweeper HT cam all by itself will get you close to 400 RWHP. Stock 243s may get you 25? RWHP more. I would at least get 243s milled .025" and bump the compression.

Where are you located? The guys over at Tune Time Performance do a lot of work on these motors and have an in house machine shop where they do head porting and motor builds. Also all the cams are custom ground and specd to your specific goals.

+1 f*** the numbers. build your car till WOT gets yur adrenaline going... keep building to keep high going... a coke habit would be cheaper but this is much healthier.

My LS1 Stage 2 TorqueMAX cam is our go to cam for GTO's. It makes stupid average torque and has a power curve like Megan Fox. It also sounds awesome with or without cats and has a nice popcorn like idle letting you know there is a cam in the car.

With TEA Stage 2 243's a customer is putting down 464rwhp and well over 430rwtq. Another customer with a Fast 102 in a LS2 GTO made 430rwhp/410rwtq. Many others with that cam making 400rwhp cam-only with LS6 intakes in LS1's. With a good set of Ai or TEA ported 243's and the Stage 2, 450-460rwhp and 420-430rwtq is not out of the question at all with a LS6 intake on a Dyno Jet. Cam specs are 227/235 .614"/.621" 110+3 and I also offer a version on milder lobes that is slightly smaller at 226/234 .59x"/.61x" 110+3.

Get a cam kit. It will have everything you need springs, retainers, locks, seats and hardened push rods. You also might want to think about some link bar lifters while you have the heads off or at least replace the lifter trays. If you do lifters or mill the heads (recommended) you should measure for correct push rod length. You'll also need head gaskets, a timing chain, head bolts and fluids
