Default Realistic costs for a rear end rebuild?

The recent thread about svede's rear end debacle has began to worry me.. I'm doing a pretty big head/cam/intake and possibly a 100 shot if I can afford it. Right now, with bolt-ons she made 372HP/376TQ on a pretty hot day but I want more power. I talked to Ed Curtis and he assembled a set of Mast 245 cathedral port heads and a .638/.638 235/241 cam to go with it. I already have a single piece aluminum driveshaft and a new clutch/flywheel combo to go in, but I've heard horror stories about people putting shot on stock 3.46's. Whenever the Goat is out she gets run pretty hard anyways, but with the slicks I'll be putting on for racing in Mexico pretty soon after the head/cam, I'd rather not be stranded in Tijuana with a shattered rear. I'd rather do a 3.73 rear, a new limited slip and axles, but I'm not sure where to go for realistic costs.

I have an 05 H/C/I with 450 rwhp that I beat the sh*t out of and the stock rear hasn't skipped a beat. But I also had street tires on it which probably helped a lot. As for a rear end I recently just picked up a 31 spline Ford 9 inch from GForce. It comes with everything minus the third member for about $3,000. Add another $1,000 for a pre-assembled third member with a truetrac and you will be good for 600 tq. I have seen them on ebay for as low as $600, but I prefer to get it new. There are other options that cost more or less. I just thought that was the best bang for my buck.

That is for the 35 spline kit. Call and ask about the 31 spline kit. It won't hold 1000+ hp but its still pretty strong.

Stock diff holds 1000+ hp, just fyi.

The nvh, driveline angle difficulties, added weight and exhaust clearance...Not to mention the added drag to operate it. Not worth it imho.

The 9" is a horrible move in most applications short of a dedicated drag car with very specific gear ratio needs. I can't think of a reason to install one. This is one where bigger isn't necessarily better or needed. If i was going 9" I'd check with the sponsor here who has a solid axle deal. It looks like the better option if going 9"

Carry on.

Is there any shop that you guys would recommend to get a 3.73 gear from and maybe a new limited slip? I know some folks order straight from the Aussies, but I'm not sure really. I'm just now getting into the motor work and bolt-on stuff plus the suspension work I did.

Mike, 2QWK4RU 06 GOAT on here is the man for your rear diff needs.

Also, what trans is in your car? Automatics in these cars are very easy on all the drivetrain parts and 6 speeds are just the opposite, they tear stuff upppp!
