Question alternative cars

What are some closely comparable cars to the GTO? I love everything about the GTO but I need more storage space. 2 door, 4 door, whatever body style doesn't matter. Just looking for what you would/did consider when looking at the GTO.

F-bodies are nice but I'm looking for something newer. So far I'm just comparing it to the new fugly STI.

well the first car I was looking at was a trans am, but after I saw the road test and pics of the GTO it was sold! The interior space and comfort beat the f-bodies hands down. There really isn't much trunk space at all... but enough for a couple things. How much space you need. Honeslty if your looking for a car with more storage space then a sports car isn't for you. unless ur talking about storage space for the whole car it's self? then that a diff. story.

I count anywhere you can stuff anything as storage space, and anyway you can get it in. For instance, if the GTO had a hatch and folding rear seats like F-bodies I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing one because bigger items would fit. That's about as much space as I need, my WRX sedan does great with the rear seat pass-thru.

slow: Which models and why? I don't have a lot of free time to go test driving

depends on what your "goals" are...

Charger is bigger, fits more **** in the trunk,
can have near the same power (but only comes with an Automatic)

and as long as you're not going for the SRT, you get the "Lifetime" drivetrain warrenty

when I got my gto, I looked at the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Turbo (I think it was the limmited)
now they have the Spec B also.

and the G8 would be my choice if I were shopping this coming year.

I looked at the Pontiac site and the G8 has the top of the list.

When will they hit showroom floors, which engine/tranny, will the rear seats fold or have a pass-thru? Thanks!

If space is a big concern, the charger wins hands down. The trunk is enormous, and the back seats can fold down for longer cargo. The downsides are a weak posi, extra weight, and no available tuning software.

Maybe if they bring the Commodore VE UTE over here you would have plenty of storage [IMG][/IMG]

Also if the G8 is like its sister car down under, the rear seats will fold down.

It seems the L76/L92 combo is going into the G8 GT. Supposedly, the active cylinder management 'mpg booster' thing will also come with. Then what happens with a procharger or other form of boost? Or even a cam upgrade?

Somebody will surely make them work but probably will cost some serious cash.
