Default 04 Gto rear end

Hey I was just wondering if you guys have ever had any problems with your rear ends whining. My car only has like 24k on it and its making a weird whining noise which I have pinpointed to only happening between 45 and 55. I was looking on ls1 gto and I found a couple threads about this, people saying it was pretty common. They said it was a defective part in the rear end, which if you ask to replace under warranty they just put in the same differential with the same defective part. Some guys went back and got two or three differentials and still have the same whine. So I am guessing it is better just to deal with it until something actually breaks.

hmm my car is making a noise as well... sounds like it is coming from the rear end.. the shop said it was probably the new exhaust rubbing on something.. lol idk if that's accuate or not though.. I'll def. look into it when I'm back in town..

Mine is very faint but it is there. Only hear it when the windows are up and the radio is off. Try changing the fluid as that might help it some. I'm running Royal Purple and haven't had any issues with the rear, changed the original fluid at around 1K miles. At 24K miles now.

Had my rear end assembly axles and everything replace at 3400 miles because it locked up. Oh! and that was when they were test driving it after the dealer put the new auto trans. in because the tailshaft of the trans. broke. Hope your luck is better than mine!

you are out of warranty, unless you bought an extension. Let it whine is my advice. If it gets real bad where needs replacing, you will know it.

It's amazing how people jump on a bandwagon on the interwebz.

Torco is a horrible choice for our car. Don't take my word for it, I've only built a few hundred of these diffs and have them in cars making over 1300hp.

Carry on with the bad info.. sorry I'm late to the party. Lol.

You keep saying its a horrible choice but dont offer any info as to why. I've ran it for years with no issues if anything it quieted the rear end down significantly
