Default New to the gto and here

I just got my hands on a 2006 torrent red *i think it's called* GTO. I think i got a good deal on it but for now i'll keep that to myself. It already has one very nice addition. It has a full borla exhaust with a true Xpipe for performance and H pipe for a nice deep mellow sound. H pipe was custom frow doing research. It also has z06 rims not sure if their real or not but their done in red chrome which i really don't care for too much red. the car only had 34,772 miles on it when i picked it up and it's had an oil change every 5k miles with the exception of the first oil changed at 2k. let me know what ya'll think i'm working on getting pictured up.

Its torrid red.

Does it have the correct spacers to fit the rims on it/the ARP wheel studs, if not you'll probably want to do some research on those rims because they're not too great to run on stock wheel studs. Borla exhaust should not have an Hpipe and an Xpipe....should only have Xpipe. If you have both, thats just weird. Ditch the H and keep the X, more power, better sound.

yeah i was trying to figure out the wheels.. and the exhaust i noticed the borla system only has an xpipe so when i asked him he said it was too raspy so he had a good muffler shop put a H pipe in to smooth the sound out i rather like the sound of it so i think it'll stay as is.. i would really like to get audio of it so ya'll could hear it too.. it sounds amazing.. then again i'm not going to build this car like my last if i do anything it'll be well thought out and done correctly lol

well, having an Hpipe and an Xpipe is pretty unusual to run them together, you're just introducing something else to hinder airflow. Its either one or the other. If you like how it sounds and it still performs more power to ya. I'd check into the wheels though. If they have the upgraded ARP studs and a small spacer in front you should be good to go.

erg i should have thought of that. I was just going to buy a new set of wheels. I guess i'm still in the new car Aura. So i have another question. Who here would be the resident GTO guru? have a few questions like: I want my car to run better doing just odds and ends right now like spark plugs maybe new ECU and such what should i look into. for right now though lets keep each addition under $150.. This car isn't going to be my beast i've got another project under wraps for that.

Honestly, for GTO-specific info, you're best off on LS2GTO.com...but the few that cross-post over here will help in any way possible.

Best thing is to scan the car and see if it has a pre-existing tune so money's not wasted there. Panel K&N filter, plugs should be fine right now IF the car was serviced as advertised.
