looking at a LS2 GTO w/salvage title PRICE??
I went with a buddy to look at a GTO. Nice looking car very straight.
40k miles
6spd
CAI
Alll the stereo options.
What is this car worth? Haven't been around any GTO's to know what they are worth.
I appreciate your 2cents.

Salvage title affects price BIG time. No matter how straight the car is, it will never lose salvage status. Typically, salvaged cars go for about 25% less than what the average market value is (not KBB). I would never consider getting one, unless it was at least 40% under market value. If you're the type of person that owns cars for a year or two and then sells them, then it would probably not be a good idea to buy that car. Remember that when you sell it, you'll have to convince someone else to buy a salvaged titled car and that's not easy when we're talking >6k. Most people need a loan for that kind of money and most banks won't 1) give loans for salvaged titled cars 2) give loans for cars greater than 5 years old. Been through it before trying to sell one. Good luck either way.

It depends on why the car has a salvage title. A minor front end collision that pops the airbags will sometimes get a total and then you have a salvage car that is completely repairable. I do most of my own work, so no they do not bother me in most cases, but as others have said (1) no loans (2) they are hard to resell especially in a year or two because people will think there is something wrong with it. (3) some insurance companies have restrictions on what coverage you can get i.e. liability only (4) they do have less value than KBB and you need to pick it up for even less than that. I buy my cars outright abd inspect them thoughly so I am not scared of them and if I missed something it is my own fault but since I got the car cheap enough, just fix it and enjoy because most of the time noone will know how much money you saved by buying one this way...except you. Just check everything out because if you've never been down this road before, just make sure you can cover the mistakes. (fix it yourself or be able to pay for someone to fix them for you). Good luck.

a rule of thumb that we always went by was.. If it's salvaged u should be able to pay it off completely in a year.. not saying that u have but it works.. b/c then you can drive it around and usually get what u paid for it.. all of my siblings and i had salvaged vehicles for our first cars.. my very first vehicle was a 94 plymouth laser turbo awd.. it had a salvaged title due to a roll i got it when i was 15 so i could practice driving it.. it was rebuilt right it ran like brand new and was pretty fast.. a month before i turned 16 it was stolen and wrecked by two guys that went to my highschool they were caught so we settled out of court for a decent price

Well I'm having a hard time deciding because Ive had a sa;vage vehicle before without any issues. and I've repaired a couple that were totalled and don't have issues with them.
wut kind of price are you thinking? wut about 12k or something. Idk mostly because I haven't payed any attention to GTO's and what they are going for.
